Inmediata Health Group, a healthcare clearinghouse company, has
notified its customers of a data breach that may have exposed the
personal information of more than 1.5 million people.
In January, Inmediata noticed some electronic health information was
viewable online because a webpage setting had allowed search engines
to index internal webpages. Inmediata deactivated the website.
An investigation found that some of its customers' patients may have
been copied. The information exposed included names, addresses, dates
of birth, gender and medical claim information. A limited number of
Social Security numbers may have also been affected.
Inmediata began notifying clients advising them to alert patients in
April. The healthcare clearinghouse company is unaware of any
information misuse. There is also no evidence that patients' health
information was copied or saved.
