Mark Arnold, VP of Advisory Services at LARES, joins Jake Kouns, CEO and
CISO at Risk Based Security, to talk about a timely and potentially serious
cybersecurity issue: cyber security in virtual learning.
The 2019-20 school year ended abruptly for many school districts due to the
Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Schools quickly pivoted to virtual classes
in order to finish the school year, and many schools are now beginning the
new school year with classes conducted via Zoom, Google Meet and the like,
often via school-issued laptops or Chromebooks.
That potentially means a flood of vulnerable devices connecting to home and
daycare provider networks, which were hardly the most secure environments
to begin with.
In this episode of The Right Security, Jake Kouns and Mark Arnold tackle
some of the issues raised, and give tips on how school districts, teachers
and parents can help to protect the security and privacy of their children
and students.
