The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs says the agency responsible for
serving veterans in eastern Colorado and parts of Kansas is warning more
than 2,100 veterans that their personal information may have been
compromised.

The department says the information was released when an employee emailed
unencrypted documents to their personal email accounts.

Information released by the VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System said
Wednesday that the information includes the veteran's full name, last four
digits of their Social Security number and a medical diagnosis.

The agency is sending letters to all who might be affected of the potential
disclosure of their information.

The Veteran's Administration says it is investigating and taking steps to
prevent future incidents.
