The Crack Shack Enterprises LLC restaurant in Encinitas, Calif., may
have suffered a data breach between Aug. 19 and Sept. 23, the company
has warned.

The San Diego, Calif.-based fast-casual brand said malware on a server
may have accessed payment card information at the location, including
customers’ names, card numbers, expirations dates and card
verification codes.

The company said it was alerted to unusual activity relating to
payment cards that may have been used at that location and immediately
began an investigation.

“Through this investigation, it was discovered that payment card
information may have been accessed as a result of the installation of
malware on a server used to process payment card data at the Encinitas
location,” the company said. It issued the warning publicly on Jan.
17.

Crack Shack said it removed the affected server from its network and
“deployed tools to monitor its network for suspicious activity.”

The company has established a dedicated assistance line for
individuals seeking information regarding this incident. Customers can
call 1-833-719-0131 Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. PST.

More information is available at the Crack Shack website.

Crack Shack, which was named a Nation’s Restaurant News Hot Concept in
2019, has six units in California and Nevada.
